I was invited to the Palmer PA club meeting and luncheon held during Lyceum. Fellowship member Cheryl Crawford who is the Palmer representative in PA arranged part of this. Since I was going to Palmer representing the FSCO this presented an opportunity to meet with future PA Chiropractors and discuss the Fellowship.

The luncheon was held on a patio behind the student union building on Saturday afternoon. I was prepared with Fellowship brochures, applications, and a carefully thought out speech about the Fellowship and practicing in PA in case I had a chance to speak. When I arrived the students were busy grilling lunch. I was introduced to them as President of the Fellowship and met the Pa Club officers and many of the student members. (Pennsylvania has the second largest contingency of students at Palmer) I was especially surprised when I recognized most of the attending Chiropractors as Fellowship members. Three of them were the guest speakers.

Jack Vandervort, Randy McCall, and Wes Mullen each had a turn to speak about practicing successfully in Chiropractic. I listened intently as they each spoke to the students. Be who you are, have the courage and integrity to talk about what you actually do in practice, don’t be discouraged by those who can’t understand, and come from the heart. This was information not coming from a book or seminar presented by someone who hasn’t practiced in years, but real advice from three Chiropractors who total close to one hundred years of being in practice and will all return to those practices Monday morning. As they finished they looked around and asked if there was anything to add. The microphone was held out only a few feet from my grasp. I looked down at my carefully prepared speech on the Fellowship for a second, looked back at the mike, and just sat there. There was nothing to say. They truly represented what the Fellowship members are about. Chiropractic is more than what we do for a living; it is a way of life. Success in practice is measured in much more than dollars and cents; it is measured in the joy and happiness it brings into your life. Your practice becomes an extended family and a part of who you are.

The speakers finished and we sat around talking to the students. I fully enjoyed the luncheon. Later that afternoon a large smile came over my face as I thought of the irony that one of my proudest moments as President of the Fellowship occurred when I didn’t say a word.

DENNIS MARCHIORI SEMINAR SCHEDULED FOR
NOVEMBER IN PHILADELPHIA AREA

The Chiropractic Fellowship is offering a one-day seminar in the Philadelphia area on Saturday, November 15. Dr. Dennis Marchiori`s seminar is titled "Ten Common Imaging Pathologies in Chiropractic Seminar. This seminar is an overview of the most common pathologies associated with film interpretation of X-ray and MR for the practicing chiropractor that provides 12 hours of CE credits approved in Pennsylvania. Program hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. - registration at 9:30 a.m. - working lunch at 1:00 p.m. included in the registration fee.
